My Dear Catharine

I have only time to say a few words. I have advised a war meeting and have offered our people two hundred dollars to help recruit a company The country is in real danger our own homes are threatened. I have offered this money because we cannot spare Harley to go If he should go I must come home and I can be more useful here than he could be in the army. Write to me and tell me how you are getting along with the hay and grain I fear we may have a wet spell

Affectionately Yours
