Dear Doctor
I am disappointed
in not having Seen you in New York long before this: to try your knowledge of "the Science" in view of becoming a member of our Corps in the Army.
As I told you, when last with you, the Examening board has been in Session all last Month; and all of this: Nor will they adjourn before the 25th of the Month. They are Examening two Candidates per day in order to get through with them by that date. If you are ready it is not at all too late to appear yet. They have to Examine as long as candidates present themselves.
When another "Board" will be "ordered" it is impossible to tell by any one; Even the Sect. of War.
The work of the present one will have to be arranged & disposed of, in the first place; and see how it "foots up". If there are a sufficient number of candidates passed to fill the vacancies; there will not be another "Board", until a Sufficient number of vacancies occur.
If there are not a Sufficient number of candidates passed, at this "Board", there may be another one in a few months -
But I can tell you more about these things when I see you as I intend to stop at McKees[?] next week if all things go well.
Glad to hear from you at any time and ever,
Truly Yours
