To Catharine
From Eli Slifer
3 pages
Eli comments that while he went to church in the morning, he had to work in the afternoon because "in war there can be no Sunday." He says it is now expected that 20,000 more troops will be sent. He hopes the war will be short, and tells Catharine that the State will be giving the men now in camp proper clothing. The ladies can make garments for the next Company to leave. The war has "much alarmed" many people in Harrisburg. Eli is getting tired of his boarding house, but is uncertain about moving. He desperately wants to be able to visit home but does not know when he will have a chance.
