To Eli Slifer

From Alfred Hayes

Hayes writes on behalf of the Committee of Management (Thomas Chamberlin, L. D. Beaver, L. B. Christ and himself) to inquire if another volunteer Military Company will be accepted. They propose calling the Company "The Slifer Guards." If such a proposal is not to be accepted immediately, Hayes asks if, in the interim, arms could be furnished by the state for the purpose of drill.
