Books

Bertrand Library has an extensive collection of books, totaling more than a half million volumes. The collection is designed primarily to support the university's curriculum.

To access the collection search the library catalog.

Journals and periodicals

The Bertrand Library's periodical collection contains thousands of journals, magazines, newspapers and newsletters and millions of articles accessible in print and online.

To search for a journal by its title, check in both the Bertrand Library Catalog and the Electronic Journals page.

To locate databases that list articles on specific subjects, check in the Research by Subject page.

Government Documents

Bertrand Library is a depository for documents produced by the federal government and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This collection supports the curriculum needs of Bucknell as well as the needs of the local community.

The library's Government Information Guide helps you locate information (including legal information) from federal, Pennsylvania state, and local governments.

The library's collection of government documents can be searched by using the Library Catalog. To limit your search to government documents in print select the "Advanced Search Options," and limit the location to "Government Documents."

ICPSR

Since many Bucknell faculty and students are involved in quantitative research, Bucknell University has joined with over 325 institutions around the world to provide access to the datafiles available through the Inter-university Consortium for Social and Political Research (ICPSR). These data sources cover a broad range of disciplines including political science, sociology, demography, economics, history, education, gerontology, criminal justice, public health, foreign policy, and law. ICPSR also offers training facilities and programs for the study of quantitative social analysis techniques.

Jake Carlson is the ICPSR representative at Bucknell. Please contact him if you need assistance using ICPSR or have any related questions.

Videos & DVD

The library has a significant collection of educational and feature films that support the curriculum at Bucknell University. Recreational items are also available.

Faculty and staff may contact their subject librarian or use the Online Order Form to request the purchase of a title for the collection.

To search for films in the library catalog use the "Advanced Search Options", and limit the format to "Video or DVD".

A search for "feature films" is also a popular way to browse this collection online. Also most feature films are shelved in the PN1997 call number range for easy browsing.
